Fifty-three buildings, and what we can honestly say about them
Search volume for this brand is dominated by place names — Blackpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Cardiff, Reading, Birmingham, Luton, Leeds and two dozen more. People are not usually researching a company when they type those; they are trying to find out whether there is a casino near them, what it is like inside, and whether they can simply walk in. This page answers the parts of that which are on the public record, and stops at the parts which are not. What is on record: the size and shape of the estate, how it got that big, who regulates it, and what a licensed British casino floor contains. What is not: the opening hours, table minimums, dress code or game mix of any individual building. We have not verified a single one of those, and the operator's own venue pages are the only authoritative source for them.
How the estate reached this size
The chain did not grow steadily to 53 venues; one transaction did most of the work, and a regulator very nearly stopped it.
The Gala takeover, 12 May 2013
Grosvenor completed the purchase of 19 casinos from the Gala Coral Group on that date, which made it the largest casino network in the UK. A larger version — 23 venues — had stalled in 2012 after a Competition Commission and Office of Fair Trading decision; four casinos were dropped before the revised deal cleared.

Grosvenor bought the casino inside the Ricoh Arena complex in Coventry for £650,000. It is a useful example of how the estate is assembled: individual sites acquired on their own terms, not a uniform rollout.
Two venues that do not carry the name
Alongside the 53 British casinos, the group operates two unbranded sister casinos in Belgium. They are part of the same ownership structure but do not trade under the Grosvenor name.

Which building is nearest you, whether it is open tonight, and what it offers are all things that change. We publish none of them because we have checked none of them — a guide site that guesses at this is worse than no guide site.

How did Grosvenor become the largest casino network in the UK?
Principally through the acquisition of 19 casinos from the Gala Coral Group, completed on 12 May 2013. That transaction took the chain to the top of the British market by number of venues. An earlier attempt covering 23 casinos had stalled during 2012 following a decision by the Competition Commission and the Office of Fair Trading, and the revised 2013 agreement went ahead with four casinos removed from it.
Can I just walk into a British casino?
Entry rules to licensed casinos in Great Britain are set by gambling legislation and the operator's own conditions, and both age verification and identification requirements apply. Because those conditions vary by venue and have changed over the years, the specific policy for a specific building is something to confirm with that venue before travelling. We have not checked entry policy at any Grosvenor casino and do not print one.
Why does this page not list the venues by city?
Because a list of place names with nothing verified behind them would be padding. There are around thirty separate towns and cities where people search for this brand by name, and producing thirty near-identical pages containing an address we copied and hours we never confirmed is the classic shape of a low-value doorway site. The estate size, ownership and regulatory position are things we can state; the contents of each building are not.
Are the venues and the website the same business?
They are the same brand under the same parent, The Rank Group, but they are distinct products with distinct licence conditions, and having an account with one does not automatically mean having one with the other. The relationship between the two is covered on our online and app page.
